Peter
- Birthdate: March 30, 1966
- Hometown: Windsor, Ontario
Born with drumsticks in his hands:
“No matter what I got in my hands from as small as a baby…my mother told me I used as drumsticks. Never had a drum lesson in my life and very proud to say everything i know iv’e learned on my own.”
Mike played in front of his first live crowd at the age of 6 at his cousin’s wedding:
“I was so young it took my father until the end of the night to convince the band to let me play…they didn’t think I could.”
Mike started playing with his first band in bars at the age of 14 with his brother. He went on to play in a few local Windsor, Ontario bands including “Gunslinger” and “The United Snakes”, his brothers band. It was during this time that Moe Rotondi started looking for a drummer to fill in for a 3 night set with Destroyer.
Their singer (at the time) contacted Mike about the spot because they had both played in the band Gunslinger. Apparently Moe and the guys were impressed as they hired him and the rest is, shall we say, Kisstory.
Mike has been with Destroyer for 8 years and says that he’s “loving it just as much now as when I played the very first show“. With over 850 shows, Mike and the boys have played all over Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Vancouver, Calgary, Newfoundland and countless others. Even through numerous member changes, Destroyer is still going strong – truly earning the title of Canada’s Ultimate KISS Tribute.
Their current Destroyer lineup includes Moe, Steve and Tony who Mike says are like brothers to him. Not forgetting the two honorary Destroyer members, Randy and Dave, who are Destroyers road manager and crew. “If not for these 2 guys we couldn’t do and wouldn’t want to do any shows without them.”
Mike’s drums are 20 years old; 7 piece PEARL blx series all birch shells, with a mix of Pearl, Gibralter and tama hardware and 13 Zildjian and Sabian cymbals.
